Amy’s Story

“We do not escape into philosophy, psychology, and art, we go there to restore our shattered selves into whole ones.”
—Anais Nin
Amy's upbringing was firmly rooted in conservative Baptist beliefs. However, in 2017, a profound spiritual encounter prompted her to embark on a journey of questioning and reevaluation with the guidance of her own Spiritual Director.
Amy had obtained a Master’s Theological Studies from Baylor University’s Truett Seminary in 2006, and had dedicated over a decade to teaching the Old and New Testaments to middle school students. However, Amy reached a point where she realized she could no longer continue teaching beliefs she no longer fully embraced, leading her to resign at the end of the 2017 school year.
Following this transition, Amy worked in landscaping until she obtained her social worker license, marking the beginning of a new career in social work. Now, she applies her expertise to support the elderly in nursing homes and other senior living facilities.
In her personal life, Amy is happy married to Eric. Together, they navigate the joys and challenges of raising their five children alongside their beloved dog, Levon.
When she has free time, you might find Amy:
Playing lots of instruments (guitar, bass, vocals… even tiny harmonicas!)
Gardening
Listening to poems and making her own poetry
Reading books or making s’mores by a fire
Playing in nature
Building LEGO
Taking joy rides in her Jeep
Connecting with beautiful souls
“How about remembering your divinity?
— Alanis Morissette
Professional Training
Amy obtained her training as a Spiritual Director from Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology in August of 2023 and practices in the Dallas, Texas area.
The transformation she has experienced in her own spiritual direction has been so profound that she knew she wanted to pursue training in order to offer this service to others.
